Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road interchange

As part of work on the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, a grade separated interchange will be constructed at Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road, Wellcamp.

Building the Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road interchange

Works involve constructing:

  • two on-ramps, enabling motorists to access the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing in both directions
  • two off-ramps, enabling eastbound and westbound motorists to exit the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing
  • a three-span bridge, taking the road bypass over Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road
  • two signalised intersections to enhance safety for all road users.

A 1.1km long section of Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road, Wellcamp will be upgraded to accommodate the new interchange.

Access to Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport

Construction of a direct off-ramp to Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport was not included in the State reference design and does not form part of Nexus’ design solution. The Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road interchange will serve as a connection point and is located approximately two kilometres from the airport.

Construction updates

Construction on the Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road underpass achieved a significant milestone in early July 2017, with the delivery and installation of Super T girders for the two-lane, three-span bridge.

Concrete works to complete super structures on top of the girders and form bridge parapets are the next key activities and are expected to be complete in late 2017.
