Teen Challenge helping those in need

Nexus-Together-TSRC-Teen-Challenge

Nexus Infrastructure Chairman of the Board Mr John Witheriff has visited one of the TSRC’s most valuable neighbours, community organisation Teen Challenge.

Teen Challenge QLD has been playing a valuable role in rehabilitation in Toowoomba since 2001, and Mr Witheriff was given a tour of the facility by Operations Manager Craig Watson.

Mr Watson explained what their program offers to people in Toowoomba looking to recover from an addiction.

“The program aims to give young people a home, while helping them to not only deal with their substance addiction, but looking at the root causes for these addictions and helping them to work through their issues,” Mr Watson said.

“We aim to help them build personal coping strategies, increase their self-esteem, and help to build life skills that will ultimately help them reintegrate into society.”

As part of current renovations happening at the facility, Teen Challenge will be able to take in more vulnerable young men and women, and help them get back on their feet through their rehabilitation program, thanks to the provision of 34 new mattresses as part of the Nexus Together sponsorship program.

Nexus Infrastructure Chairman of the Board John Witheriff said it was great to see the TSRC project being able to help their neighbours, and the long-term value it would bring to the Toowoomba community.

“Organisations such as Teen Challenge are so important for communities and from visiting their facility I can see the Nexus Together funding they received will go a long way to enabling future support for those in need,” Mr Witheriff said.

The next funding round will be awarded early next year. For more information on how your organisation can apply for Nexus Together funding, head to our sponsorship page and fill out the online form.
