East
The east work front for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing extends from the Warrego Highway at Helidon Spa to the New England Highway at Mount Kynoch.
To construct the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing and tackle some of the difficult terrain throughout the Lockyer Valley, a number of changes were made to the local road network. This included:
- entry to the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing via an overpass from the Warrego Highway at Helidon Spa. View Warrego Highway east interchange page
- closure of the median strip between Postmans Ridge Road and Twidales Road at Helidon Spa
- cul-de-sac of Postmans Ridge Road on the western side and construction of a new Postmans Ridge Road alignment along the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing on the eastern side at Postmans Ridge
- construction of a new Murphys Creek Road overpass bridge at Postmans Ridge. View Murphys Creek Road overpass bridge page
- creek crossings at Gatton Creek and Six Mile Creek at Postmans Ridge
- construction of underpasses at Paynter Road at Postmans Ridge, Gittins Road and McNamaras Road at Withcott, and Morleys Road at Ballard
- construction of an 800m long viaduct bridge along the escarpment between Wallens Road at Ballard and the New England Highway at Mount Kynoch. View viaduct page
