West

The west work front for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing extended from Boundary Street at Cranley to the Gore Highway at Athol.

To construct the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, a number of changes were made to the local road network. This included:

  • the realignment of Ganzer Road at Gowrie Junction. View Gowrie Junction works page
  • a grade separated interchange at the Warrego Highway at Charlton. View Warrego Highway west interchange page
  • a grade separated interchange at Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road at Wellcamp. View Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road interchange page
  • permanently closing Willet Road, at Charlton, where it meets the Warrego Highway
  • a grade separated interchange at the Gore Highway at Athol. View Gore Highway interchange page
  • creek crossings at Dry Creek at Charlton, Spring Creek at Wellcamp and Westbrook Creek at Westbrook
  • construction of bridges to take the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing over Gowrie Junction Road at Gowrie Junction, the Warrego Highway and Wirth Road at Charlton, O’Mara Road and Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road at Wellcamp, FGG Couper Road at Westbrook and the Gore Highway at Athol
  • permanently closing Newton Road at Athol on the eastern and western side of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, and construction of a new section of Newton Road connecting it to the Gore Highway at Athol. View Gore Highway interchange page
