Nexus Together give community boost
The first round of the Nexus Together sponsorship program has seen overwhelming support from the Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley regions.
The community giving program was designed to help local not-for-profit groups located along the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing corridor with health, safety, education and environmental projects.
Nexus Project Director Jose Antonio Sanchez said it was extremely difficult for the selection panel to narrow down the applications to the final four successful projects.
“The projects we chose will provide great benefit to the communities we are currently working in as we build the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing,” Mr Sanchez said.
“Those who were unsuccessful this round should not be discouraged from reapplying for future rounds of funding, and we look forward to seeing new projects proposed as well.”
The following organisations received funding:
| Organisation | Project |
| Lockyer Valley Landcare Inc. | Installation of plumbing and a disabled toilet at the Centre for the Disabled |
| Teen Challenge Care | Supply of 34 single bed mattresses to increase the ability to support more clients |
| Return to the Wild Inc. | Koala and other wildlife enclosures to house rehabilitation animals while in care |
| Withcott Rural Fire Brigade | Equipment to access the Rural Fire Service Qld Redi-portal, including current mapping services, to enable immediate information in emergency situations |
The Nexus Together sponsorship program launches straight into the Spring round on Thursday 1 June, with applications accepted until 31 August 2017.
Applications for funding can be made through the program’s online form only.
