Official Ceremony to mark the beginning of major construction on TSRC

Official Ceremony to mark the beginning of major construction on TSRC

The first sod has been turned on the 41km Toowoomba Second Road Crossing (TSRC) project.

The Honourable Darren Chester, federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and The Honourable Mark Bailey, Queensland Minister for Main Roads, Roads Safety and Ports, attended the official ceremony to mark the beginning of major construction. The TSRC is the largest single funding commitment by the Australian Government to a road project in Queensland.

To mark the occasion and to freeze this date in time a time capsule was buried as part of the celebration. Gabrielle Aitken and Lutin Cliff, Year 5 students from Murphys Creek State School, presented their letters, which have now been buried in the time capsule to be opened in 2043 at the end of the 25-year operations and maintenance period.
